Can I amend / cancel my booking?
Direct bookings cannot be amended or cancelled without contacting the property directly to make these changes.

Bookings made via booking.com or other third party agents – these would need to be amended or cancelled directly with the agent online.

Has my booking been made as I have not received a confirmation?
Email confirmation is sent out when bookings are made. If you are experiencing difficulties, please telephone the Cairn direct.

Can I make a group booking?
No, please ring direct

Third party bookings can only be amended via the third party through whom they were booked.

Can I check that my booking has been made?

How can I request an invoice for my stay?
Upon departure you will receive a copy of your bill, if you need a further copy, please contact the Cairn directly.

Does Cairn have T&Cs for bedroom bookings?
Yes, these are detailed on the email confirmation that you will receive upon making your booking.

Can I check-in during the night?
Not without prior arrangement, as we do not offer a 24 hour Reception service.

What is the latest time I can check-out?
11am unless by prior agreement (subject to availability) and this may incur a small charge

What is the earliest time I can check-in?
3pm is our published check-in time, but if your room is ready earlier, we will of course allow you to check in prior to this time

We don’t operate a 24 hour Reception, our service hours are 8am until 11pm

Reception is manned between the hours of 8am and 11pm

Yes, we offer free car parking

Can I smoke in the Cairn/bedroom?
the Cairn is no smoking throughout, this includes the use of e-cigarettes and vapes

Are children welcome at the Cairn?
Yes, children are welcome at the Cairn, as long as they bring well-behaved adults! Children’s menus are available upon request

How old do I have to be to stay at the Cairn?
Eighteen or over

Can I turn up at the Cairn without a booking?
Yes, however we would always recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment

How do I add-on extra services to my stay?
Any extras taken at the Cairn such as food and beverage can be added to accommodation charges

In Room Facilities?
All of our individually designed bedrooms have a personal safe, hairdryer, iron and ironing board in all rooms, plus a tea and coffee making tray for your added convenience

Do you have meeting rooms available?
We have a very small room that seats a maximum of 6 people

Can I bring my pet?
We do not accept pets

Does the Cairn have a lift?
The bedrooms are distributed over the ground and first floor, we do not have a lift

Do you have Wheelchair accessible rooms?
We have two ground floor rooms in the main house. These are easily accessible via a side entrance (no steps) or Room 11 which is on the ground floor of our lodge.

Are bed linen and towels included in the room?
Yes

Can I invite guests to my room?
Only the guests who have booked to stay in the room can stay overnight

Do you provide housekeeping services?
Daily cleaning of bedrooms and replenishing of towels and linen

Do the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms?
Yes all of our bedrooms have en-suite facilities

Can I request a room next to another room or on a specific floor?
Yes, and we will try to accommodate where possible

Do you have additional toiletries available?
These are available upon request

Can I dine in my bedroom?
We don’t offer in-room dining, however we are able to deliver drinks from our bar for you to enjoy in the privacy of your room

What defines a Signature room?
These are our most generous proportioned rooms, each with a delightfully comfortable (so we are told!) super-king sized bed, their own bespoke style and they afford you plenty of space. They include bathrobes and slippers for your added convenience during your stay with us. Additionally we have a Signature Family room which offers a super-king sized bed in the main room, plus a double bed in an adjoining semi-private bedroom (down a very short angled corridor off the main room but with no door). We also have an option to put an extra bed into the main bedroom and/or a cot.

What is a Deluxe room?
Our deluxe category rooms have a delightfully comfortable (so we are told!) super-king or twin bedded options and are unique in every way. Additionally we have a Deluxe Family room which has a large double bed and sofa bed. They include bathrobes and slippers for your added convenience during your stay with us.

What is a Cosy Double room?
Our Cosy doubles maintain the same standards of luxury as all our other rooms, and have a delightfully comfortable (so we are told!) double bed. These rooms are small but perfectly formed.

What is Luxury Self-Catering accommodation?
Our exclusive two-bedroomed penthouse apartment is an ideal choice for those looking for the flexibility of a self-catered holiday option – whilst maintaining a luxury environment. It is located two miles up the road in the village of Gleneagles, and can sleep up to four people.

Published prices are per room per night, some rates are room only, some include breakfast and some include dinner, bed and breakfast

How can I extend my stay?
By arrangement with our front desk team (subject to availability)

Why have I not received my refund?
Refunds are processed immediately, however can take between 5 and 7 days to appear on your statement, depending upon individual banks

Can I cancel my reservation?
Yes, however this may incur a fee depending upon the room rate / package.

Can I leave my luggage at the Cairn after I check-out?
Luggage can be left with us until 11pm on day of departure

Can I leave my luggage at the Cairn before check-in time?
Yes, Reception will be able to assist with this

How do I get to the Cairn from the nearest airport?
Our nearest airports are Edinburgh and Glasgow which are both about an hour away by car.

By taxi the cost is in the region of £100.00 (Edinburgh is a tiny bit closer) or by train (nearest station Gleneagles) then 5 mins by taxi.

How do I get to the Cairn from the train station?
Our nearest train station is Gleneagles, a short taxi drive of about 5 minutes

How do I get a taxi?
Taxis can be booked by Reception on your behalf

How can I make a complaint or give feedback?
We really value guest feedback (be it positive or negative) and would ask you to please engage with a member of staff in reception, alternatively complete one of our comment cards.

Can I make a booking on behalf of another person?
Yes

Why do I have to register my details when I book?
It is a legal requirement to register who is at the property

Why do I have to leave my car registration?
In the event of a car alarm sounding, we need to quickly locate whom the vehicle belongs to, so that we can alert the owner

Can I charge my EV Car at Cairn?
No – nearest fast car charging is 20 minutes away in Perth at Inveralmond

Breakfast 9am until 10.30am daily (earlier by prior arrangement)

Breakfast £15.00 per person (also open to non-residents)

Lunch 12noon until 2pm daily (Sunday service from 12noon until 9pm)

Afternoon tea – served from 2pm until 4pm Tuesday through Saturday
